About the Exhibition:

NIGHTWALK Wattle & Ghost was artist, illustrator, cartoonist and author Wattleitbe’s second solo exhibition at In the Skies, following on from Super Fun Wall Sea People in 2020 just after we opened the space. The opening for this exhibition was by candlelight and guests were asked to bring a torch!

NIGHTWALK

While out night walking with a head torch I rediscover the 'other' world, the gentle, extraordinary (!!), curious, whimsical wilderness ... humming away, taken for granted, so alive and ready to say things. And then go home again.

Wattle & Ghost

In 2022 I became enchanted by 'in between' realms and otherness- & was struck by the presence and explosion of wattle - seemingly against the odds it burst and bloomed. It's irresistible! Surfing throws up the chance to briefly 'disappear' and meld with a kind of 'otherness'. The Ghosts skimm fleetingly- even the waves themselves- ... so I put them in paint
