Impressions

About the exhibition

Impressions is a group show curated by Peter Steven with works by himself, Peter Jacobs, David Brown and the late Jiri Tibor Novak, who very sadly passed away very recently. It is a great honour to have Jiri Tibor Novak’s work in this exhibition. Jiri agreed to the show before he became unwell. He wanted the show to go ahead and arranged six works to be included. We are so grateful to Jiri’s partner Aurore for making it possible. Peter Steven’s curation of the show was originally based on entwined artistic friendships. He simply asked a few interconnected artist friends to join him in a show - no more to it. This has not changed, however, now that Jiri has passed away, all three artists have felt compelled to use the opportunity to reflect upon and honour their respective artistic and personal connections to him in some way. This is partly represented in the works they have chosen to exhibit and in the writing they have included. A special event will be held for the exhibition on Sunday 20 February 2-4pm. Everyone is welcome and we hope to see you there. We would like to send our love and condolences to those who were close to Jiri. We were lucky to get to know him in recent times through the gallery and art supply store, where he would often come to buy oil paints. He made a big impression on us, and we can only imagine what he meant to you and the loss you feel. With love and respect, In the Skies
